A liquid herbal extract is a solution of alcohol and water that contains the herb's active constituents. The American Academy of Pediatrics says that a small amount of alcohol is compatible with breastfeeding, and that alcohol is out of the breast milk two hours after consuming. If you find the taste disagreeable, put the dosage in a small amount of water.
